Re: Gold Farmers turned into prey
Have you played EVE?
If you have then you would realize something perplexing about your concepts. The game is just fucking retarded to learn. It plays nearly as slow as molasses and serves up a gaming experience equivelant to exactly what it advertises... a space flight sim. Maybe thats my Star Wars spoiled action side sticking out, but the game is hardcore from the learning curve to the combat experience.
For all the great aspects they hit on such as player corporations, trade market, and PvP responsiblity... it marks off plenty in boring gameplay. Not to even mention the slanted ISK accumulation... err inflation... err whatever you want to call it.
Also there is plenty of signs that farming is alive and well in EVE. Just visit any online retailer and ISK is on sale. Actually if anything EVE offers the chance for the hardcore farming guilds to really dominate. But EVE isn't that popular a game and therefore not that great of a source for income for farmers.
In essence the player corps of EVE are farmers... they just aren't ebaying the profits. They are dedicated, but none of them would be likely to compete if a dedicated farming corporation moved in. If EVE had the sub numbers of WoW you would be singing another tune... a tune not too far off of those playing L2 over in Korea.
