Re: The "healer" role as a byproduct of the meta-game we played

If the only thing the healer does is add health to other players, then it would be superfluous. In some games playing a healer is more fun and intense than playing a damage-dealer, where "Get that guy, ow that guy hit me, attack the other guy, repeat" can get dull. You have to keep track of your entire team - who needs health, who needs buffing, who needs a debuff removed, while avoiding getting clobbered yourself. And when a team gets wiped out it's sometimes your fault for not keeping all the balls in the air.
