Re: Your soul is mine

If Warhammer Online is anywhere near true to its table top origins (culture wise) it cant be anything other than a niche type product. I think you can probably count on getting the lions share of the current DAoC subs plus any L2 players that are tired of korea-ware and maybe a portion of the WoW-bois who are looking for something a bit grittier.

Point is, that Warhammer Online will be significantly more hardcore than DAoC, that is, if, it lives up to its tabletop origins. Not only that, but the plain old grittiness will keep a significant portion of the lala-land population away.

DAoC has always been a niche game, even when it was big and new. Its playstyle is pretty much firmly focused on RvR, and as most people admit PVP is a big turn off to quite a lot of folks (I dont understand that personally but its true). Gaheris server was created for coop non-pvp play in DAOC and that server has pretty much languished since its creation, why play pve in a game that is completely focused on pvp.

So the real question isnt whether or not WO goes live, but rather, when it does go live, will it be simply another WoW-clone or a beefed up DAoC (DAoC V.2). Personally I believe that now EA is involved there isnt a snowballs chance in hell of WO going live as a mature rated, blood and gore PVP game.
