Re: Your soul is mine

Warhammer has had two sides ever since the good old days. Its more heroic and LoTR-style tabletop wargamer side and its darker-style Pen and Paper side. I belive Mythic is going for the LoTR style for this project basing its lore off the tabletop version. Wether it is 'mature' or not does not really matter, it is the delivery on the gaming and PvP side.

Cutting the crap and getting to the gameplay in MM's is king nowadays, pointless, life-wasting timesinks aren't.

To me the Warhammer/Warhammer 40k universe is a million tons more interesting and well developed lore wise than the sort of plain-jane sub-camelot EQ 1.1 knock-off that DAOC was. I actually played the wargame version of Warhammer for a long time (since Blood Bowl waay back in the day) and the WH' gameplay was always very simple and accesible.

I hope they do make the game more "mass marketish" with cleaner and streamlined play and a more heroic over the top flair while retaining Warhammers the wargames darker sense of humor. I don't like those old games that require 1,000 man hours to level a character up and tons of pointless questing, raiding, and grinding with a painfully emo/esque storyline. Yeah, the fresh, stale stink of the EQ style of game play needs to die.

Maybe this will be a chance for Mythic to break its own stale mold, we'll have to see.
