I believe the clients will differ, so it won't be that easy to connect to different servers. Blizzard's reps still say that they'll offer a way to switch to the american or the european servers once the european launch is done.
Considering that we are still waiting for Paypal I believe that this is another feature that they'll keep pushing away.
