Bloody Industry

It's been described in a brutal way:

At approximately 4:30PM today, Sigil employees were told to meet outside. At which point they were terminated. On the spot.

Did they tell them to stand along the wall before they got executed?

Do we have the movie on YouTube?

Only official comment from Nino (FoH's mascot), on the FoH's boards:

I will make an announcement tomorrow regarding my status...

That isn't a denial of the news.

My guess is that SOE cherry-picked some of them and fired the others. They'll probably pretend Vanguard is going to be supported at least to milk it as much as possible before its demise. After all SOE still has Matrix Online active.

In other news SWG team is made by 20 devs.

Re: Bloody Industry

According to Smed, staff will be downsized to ~50 and the majority of the developement team will be rehired by SOE.

Looks like Vanguard developement will continue, at least for the forseeable future.

Re: Bloody Industry

Stick a fork in it .The bad press the bad launch. This game is never going too recover.
You have WOW,LotR,EQ2(which is ALOT better,)EVE,EQ1,plus Warhammer and Conan on the
horizen.
Who in there right mind is going to go back and pay too beta test this abortion again?

Re: Bloody Industry

EQ2 has finally become a good game when they did what they were supposed to do from the very beginning: design content that bears a resembles to the locations we all loved in EQ. That didn't happen before EoF.

Also, their class system at release was horrid and the revamped classes, while better, still feel like a bunch of disjointed abilities thrown together. Class design in Vanguard, on the other hand, is actually pretty good (tho there are major balancing issues).

WoW, good game, I'm just so done with it. LotRO is a good game, too, from what I've heard. I even got into public beta but the feeling of sameness to WoW was so overwhelming that I couldn't be arsed into playing to more than a total of 6 hours.

EVE simply isn't for everyone. Until you can get into this whole Corp and PvP stuff it feels more like a graphical spread sheet than a game. I love the fact that there is a game like EVE out there that's different from the generic fantasy crap but I was never able to get into it, and beleive me, I tried.

Conan... that's definately one I'm interested in, mainly because I have faith in Funcom's ability to innovate. On the other hand, they screwed up with AO big time. I was actually a beta tester for AO and I put _a lot_ of effort into providing feedback. Ever tester was downright shocked when they announced the release. I mean, the servers crashed every few minutes and if not the servers, then the client. Nothing worked. Missions were bugged like crazy, the random generator for the instances produced retarded results, there was very little worthwhile content. AO's release makes VG's release look the WoW's release in comparison.

In my book that means that Funcom has a lot to prove.

Warhammer... it's still a year away, so let's wait and see.

I'm playing Vanguard mainly because there is no alternative that is right for me. WoW? Been there, done that. LotRO? Not interested. EQ2... tried it three times, always lost interest after a few weeks. EQ1? Too old and I fear that returning to EQ would ruin the fond memories I have of that game. I'm now older and have become a stereotypical jaded MMO vet.

It's still 6 months until Conan and until then, Vanguard will do it. The game is reasonably fun if you have a static group or a good guild.
